Another great eye opening presentation was give by Farshid Rahbar MD. Dr. Rahbar founded LA Integrative Gastroenterology & Nutrition, where he combines Eastern and Western medicine to create a unique, “whole-person” approach to caring for the body, designed to optimize and improve a patient’s health. Dr. Rahbar has become one of Los Angeles’ most sough-after and beloved gastroenterologists, with a highly successful ability to treat a wide variety of disorders affecting the gut.
He began his lecture with the disclaimer indicating the information and evidence he is presenting at the 2016 SIBO Symposium, is based only on observation collected through his Los Angeles GI Practice.
Presentation Highlights
Dr. Rahbar said that about 65% of his patients that tested positive for a tick borne illness also had an abnormal SIBO test result.

This year, The SIBO Symposium had a very fascinating presentation regarding adhesions and how they may be linked to reoccurring SIBO in some cases. A revisiting speaker to the symposium was Larry Wurn, LMT, co-founder of Clear Passage in Gainesville, Florida. He presented a very compelling lecture to a room filled with very interested practitioners. He started his presentation by stating that Clear Passage has been conducting research for manually decreasing adhesions for the past 25 years.
In 1984, Larry's wife, Belinda Wurn, PT (co founder), was diagnosed with cervical cancer and went through treatment resulting in a debilitating condition which adhered her pelvic area with its adjoining tissues causing what is know as "frozen pelvis". She was in so much pain. Surgery was not an option because the doctor informed them that adhesions would form once again after surgery. They began to research and investigate other ways to find Belinda s...

These past few months, I'd been excitedlyanticipating my travel to Portland to attend the 3rd annual SIBO Symposium. Dr. Allison Siebecker, a highly regarded SIBO specialist, presented a SIBO diet update to her eager audience. Many of her keen listeners consisted of MDs, NDs, Nutritionists, Dietitians, Health and Wellness Coaches and Chiropractors. I attended as patient and a CHC (Certified Health Coach).
I would like to share with you some of the highlights and key take aways from Dr. Siebecker's lecture this past weekend. Please keep in mind that her data is based off challenging SIBO patients. This information may not apply to simple SIBO cases. However, it may be very useful during a flare.
Things to keep in mind:
1. Individuals vary greatly- What may be tolerable for one person may not be tolerable for the other. Everybody is different. Tolerances may change over time with treatment. Experiment to find tolerances. Variations of fruits and vegetables may vary (softer is better). Its i...
